GIG IN GERMANY 23/10/04 Bakers dozen have just returned from a one of concert in Germany. The gig was organised by a skinhead called Andreas and Peter from Blind Beggar records. It was held in a small town near Chemnitz and was a roaring success with over 400 skins in attendance. We were unfortunately down to a 3 piece for this show as Aldo has just become a proud father, so it's congratulations the the wee man. |
UPDATED NEWS 15/08/04 Finally worked out how to update the news section folks so here is whats been happening with Bakers Dozen over the last two years. We have had a few line up changes since i last updated this, Aldo (ex Beergut 100) has now taken on the full time bass player role in The dozen. Gary left back in 2002, he was busy as hell with work and other commitments and really did'nt have the time to gig abroad as much as we would like. He's still kicking about and coming along to the gigs and we wish him well. Aldo filled in right away and took up the dozen songwriting imediately. Last year Dave joined the band on guitar to fill in for some German shows, he has become a vital part of Bakers Dozen and has helped greatly with the sound. Back at the start of the year we recorded a brand new cd. It's called the Storm of Discontent and has 13 tracks. Should be out for September on Blind Beggar records who released the last split with Retaliator. Presently we have very little merchandise for sale, T shirts and sweatshirts are currently sold out as is the Retalitor splt. We do have Divided From the Masses cds for £7.00 and Ripe for Violence eps for £3.00. We plan to do some new shirts when the new cd comes out. We will be playing Edinburgh with Discipline on 21st August at the Wheatsheef pub in Good old Gorgie. SEE YOU DOWN THE FRONT.. The new address for Bakers Dozen is. Bakers Dozen 35 Grierson Crescent Edinburgh, EH52AY Scotland GIG IN OSLO We have just returned (yesterday) from playing at the Oslo skins xmas bash. We all had a great time and would like to thank all the Oslo Skins for showing us such a great time. The Friday night saw Norwegian headcases HAGGIS kick off the festivities with a short set which was ended abruptly by a fucked bass drum and too much beer. The action continued with the annual Oslo skinhead arm wrestling, drinking contest which proved much fun. We took the stage to a packed audience who went more than a bit mental to tracks such as PICK A VICTIM, RAISE THE BELGRANO, UNSTOPPABLE FORCE and EVIL. The nights festivities where brought to thunderous ending with a very sketchy couple of improvised cover versions (many apologies but you all seemed to like them). The following night saw NI LIV, ORDERNEKT, PERKELE and Englands mighty WARRIORS playing excellent sets. A real treat came from the reformed for the night local legends THE WHALERS going through a few numbers and getting the crowd going nuts. Many thanks to Bjorn Eric and his wife, Thomas for driving us and the guys from Haggis for keeping the party going.
THE BIG MAN HAS LEFT THE BUILDING Sadly our guitarist Bobe has had to temporarily leave the band due to family troubles and it looks like the big man will not be doing much in the future. Bakers Dozen wish Bobe all the best and thank him for his time spent in the band. THE STORM OF DISCONTENT IS COMING We're all set to enter the studio in march to record our second full length cd. It will be called THE STORM OF DISCONTENT and will feature the following tracks. 1.Backstreet Justice 2.The Storm of Discontent 3.British Oi (is fighting back) 4.House Of Fools 5.The Devil Rides Out 6.Changed Days 7.Loyalty Confirmed 8.The Final Terror 9.Needle Breed 10.Name Unknown 11.Unstoppable Force 12.The Debt Collector We should be looking at an Autumn 2003 release on Pure Impact, keep your eyes peeled. EDINBURGH SHOW We will be playing in Edinburgh on the 22nd February at the Wheatsheath pub near Gorgie. Also playing are Local ska heroes BOMSKARE and new ska boys PORK PIE. The gig should be a cracker and will more than likely be a sell out. The pub should be holding Ska, Punk and Oi gigs on a regular basis and will hopefully be a successful new venue as Edinburgh has currently got fuck all else.
24/07/02 GIG IN BRUGGE Bakers Dozen played a successful gig in Brugge at the famous DeKastelein. The gig was a blinder and it was great to see friends of old and new. Support was from Belgium's Riot Squad who played a great set which included Social Distortion and Stars and Stripes covers. Special thanks to Suck and Reanne for putting us on and thanks to all the other folk who travelled to see us. NEW ALBUM CONFIRMED The second Bakers Dozen cd will be released on Pure Impact some time in 2003. While in Belgium we spoke to Peter from the label and he seemed happy to work with us again. We are looking to do about 13 songs (a bakers dozen), new titles are appearing rapidly and should sound in a similar style to the tracks on the Retaliator split.
03/06/02 NEW SPLIT ALBUM ON THE WAY Bakers Dozen are about to see the release of the new split lp with England's mighty Retaliator. The lp is entitled Kick Down That Fucking Wall! (the wall in question being Hadrian's) and is on Germany's Blind Beggar label. There are nine new songs in total, five Bakers Dozen and four Retaliator. The tracks are as follows. 1.Nothing But My Rage-Retaliator 2.Night Of Retribution-Bakers Dozen 3.Aggro, Trouble and Strife-Retaliator 4.Just Say Daimler-Bakers Dozen 5.Change the Law-Bakers Dozen 6.The End Is Nigh-Retaliator 7.What Lies Ahead-Bakers Dozen 8.We Wont Live Forever-Retaliator 9.Raise The Belgrano-Bakers Dozen It will be available in a vinyl only format just now but may be available on cd in the future. Available any day now from the Bakers Dozen address.
GIG IN BELGIUM COMING SOON Bakers Dozen will be playing a show at the world famous skinhead pub De Kastelein in Brugge, Belgium on the 29th of June. It will be an eagerly awaited return for the band as their last show there in 2000 was a great success. Riot Squad (Belgium) will also be playing on the bill.
SECOND ALBUM ON THE CARDS writing has begun for the second Bakers Dozen cd. Six tracks have been writen so far with a further six to come. Titles include Storm Of Discontent, Backstreet Justice, House Of Fools and The Devil Rides Out. Hopefully the cd will be released on Pure Impact records again as they did a cracking job on the first cd Divided From The Masses. If all goes to plan expect a mid to late 2003 release.
